Importance of an On Demand Check Printing

January 26, 2012 No comments »

Fraudulent is very high nowadays. Almost anything and everything can be falsified. Original products, branded gadgets, food, drugs and money are being counterfeited. One of the nastiest things that a deceptive person can do is to falsify a check. Creating, writing or issuing a check by the owner is easy but the problems come when it is handed to another person. The entrance of a second or third party is risky when it comes to check issuance. Having an on demand check printing is one of the ways to limit the chances of fraudulent.

Others say that having an on demand check printing is a 100% safe against fraudulence- this is not true. On demand check printing can only reduce the risk of check fraudulence but not an absolute solution. Other people can print checks using a specialized inkjet cartridge that can imitate the information in checks. Ordinary people can still be fooled. This method cannot pass the quality check of banks and professional money and checks scanners. In banks, checks are printed using a specialized ink called the MICR ink toners and ink cartridges that will be printed on checks. This specialized printer ink will be printed on a specific area in the check paper- a system that is hard to be falsified. Printing hardware, security printing software and other security methods are used in on demand check printing. The special ink cartridge can emit a unique ink that will create a red stain whenever an alteration or deceptive act is done to the check. This way, the check will visually show that it has been tampered. On demand check printing is an advantage in printing and issuing checks. But always remember, being cautious is still the best way to prevent falsifications.

5 Occasions Where Flowers Make the Perfect Gift

January 25, 2012 No comments »
Deutsch: Frühlingsstrauß Flower bouquet aus Do...

Image via Wikipedia

For a long time people have been giving the gift of flowers as a way to try to express love and or support. There is just something about a blossoming bouquet of lovely fragrance and brilliant colours that perfectly accompanies a variety of feelings. Whether it is love, appreciation or encouragement, there is a flower bouquet that will suit the mood perfectly. Here are a few examples of occasions when flowers are incredibly effective at accentuating your sentiments towards people you care about.
To Say Congratulations

Sharing in the joy by helping someone celebrate their accomplishments really shows that special someone that you believe in them and want to help them feel proud of what they have achieved. Giving someone flowers when they graduate, score their dream job or reach some other milestone in their lives really proves that you care and are with them one hundred percent of the way.
To Say I Love You

Although you shouldn’t need a special occasion to tell your partner how you feel, giving flowers is a great way to express your love on special days such as birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day. Flowers have this amazing ability to capture an emotion, and your partner will enjoy having tangible evidence of your love for them.
To Say Thank You

Sometimes words just aren’t enough, especially when trying to show gratitude to someone who has gone above and beyond to help you out. It could be for anything, from someone showing you gracious hospitality to a co-worker who has covered a shift at the last minute. Even if there is a teacher or some other service provider who has done more for you or your family than was expected of them, sending them flowers will be an unexpected surprise and will encourage them to keep doing their best work. Saying thank you is great, but the effort of giving people flowers shows that you really mean it.
To Offer Condolences

Flowers are not only effective at showing happy emotions, but can also be used to try and sympathise with people and to tell them you support them through the tough times. If someone is suffering a loss, giving flowers might help to cheer them up a little bit, but more so it shows that you care and are there for them. Just having the fresh scent and the beautiful colours surrounding them will remind them that there is still plenty of joy and happiness in life, and that the sadness they feel will pass.
To Cheer Someone Up

The bright and cheery nature of freshly cut flowers hits a chord with all of us, this is why flowers are great to give to someone who is sick or injured or who has simply had a bad day. The initial presentation of the flowers should definitely get you a smile and the recipient will realise that they are not alone, but instead that they have people out there who are thinking of them.

Flowers are a timely classic for a reason, as they cover a broad range of sentiment and sometimes help you get out a feeling that you couldn’t otherwise. We all love to get flowers, and giving them is a really easy way to make someone else feel good.

7 Cool Valentine’s Day Activities

Scan of a Valentine greeting card dated 1909.

Image via Wikipedia

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and before you know it, the stores will be filled with flowers, teddy bears and chocolates. As clichéd as it is, Valentine’s day is all about celebrating your loved one. But if you’re a little bored with the same old stuff, why not shake up this Valentine’s day with a little bit of excitement? From sky diving to hot tubs, here are 7 awesome ideas that will get your heart racing.

1.    Hot Air Balloon Ride

What could be more romantic than ascending through the air on a beautiful summer’s day, arm in arm with your loved one? Enjoy the bird’s eye view of the gorgeous scenery below and indulge in a champagne breakfast (usually included). Hot Air Balloon rides are becoming increasingly popular in Australia and experiences are readily available in every state.

2.    Skydiving

This one is guaranteed to get your heart pumping – and it’ll send your love to new heights! If you’re an adventurous couple or just wanting to try something new, skydiving is an amazing experience to kick-start an audacious and passionate Valentine’s Day. If you’re keen, look for a deal – several sky diving companies will often include extras in their ‘jumps’, such as diving over a beach or providing an included lunch.

3.    One Night Stand

Don’t worry, it’s not what you’re thinking … but nothing could be more romantic than organising a one night stand – with your lover! Treat yourself to a dinner or a few drinks out and then head home, hit the sheets and pretend that you’ve only got each other for one night! It’ll surely put the fire back into your love life and make it a very memorable Valentine’s Day.

4.    Rent a Hot Tub

If you’ve got the means and you’re happy to splurge this year, renting a hot tub for your Valentine’s day (or night) is a super experience in the comfort of your own home – and it will be a great surprise for your other half! Set the tub up on your back deck or verandah, decorate it with Valentine’s Day flowers, candles and make sure you set aside some nibbles or champagne for the two of you.

5.    Winery Trip

This one is for the cosy at heart and for couples who would like a quiet night in, but still want to get away from the monotony of their everyday living space. Take a drive out to a near by winery, indulge in the fresh air, the wine tasting and the captivating surrounds before you settle down for a glorious night in your suite. Intimacy was never so amazing!

6.    Couple’s Photo Shoot

It might not sound very romantic, but investing in a photo shoot for you and your loved one can be a great way to cherish your memories. It doesn’t have to be kinky (unless you want it to be!) but a professional photographer can grab some beautiful and personal moments between the two of you, giving you something to remember for years to come.

7.    Cruise to an Island

If you’d simply refer to relax back on Valentine’s Day and not have to do anything, a cruise can be the perfect option – you’re out on the water, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, with the person you love the most. If you can, see if you can find a cruise that does a special charter to an island where you can pamper yourself with a beach picnic.

Getting Tee’d Off with Golf Games

January 16, 2012 No comments »
Pictograms of Olympic sports - Golf. This is u...

Image via Wikipedia

There haven’t been many golf games that have really tested the boundaries of what someone expects of a golf game. The most realistic offering is of course the Tiger Woods series golf game that has dominated the golfing genre way back since 1999.

But other than that, where is a competitor to EA’s offering, where is the Pro Evolution Soccer equivalent? Or to aim slightly higher, where is the Call of Duty to EA’s Battlefield series? There hasn’t been many golf games, perhaps due to a fading interest or an experience that is not easily replicable on the home console.

There may be many reasons as to why the popularity is so small compared to other sports games, but with each instalment of Tiger Woods, the sales are increased. This is going to be due to the better control, graphics and overall experience of the game capturing many more people that are either golf enthusiasts or have a fleeting interest in the game.

With a shift to a more accessible format but without falling short on the gameplay technicalities there is an opportunity for the major developers to make a fun golfing game that offers more than the one stroke at a time, turn taking bore-fest that golf games can feel like.

The Wii has obviously gone some way to making the whole experience more enjoyable, as you have much more of an interaction with the game itself.

Alternative Golfing Games

There have been other golfing games, none of real note to be able to truly compete on a gameplay level with Tiger woods, especially when you look at the cringe worthy Outlaw Golf and Everybody’s Golf (a game where golf is as good as the grammar “Everybody’s Golf”, really?!?).

On the horizon there are games that are choosing to challenge the traditional aspect of golfing games, none more so than “Ghetto Golf” a mixture of gun crime and golf that is perfect for those players that have always wanted to wield an Uzi with their 9 iron, ever since it was a weapon on GTA: San Andreas.

The golf game is pretty accurate of the activity itself in my opinion, but I do quite like a game of ‘skins’ around a virtual course, especially when there are bragging rights available. Just creating a game that is bit more fun for the party atmosphere. The Wii does do well at this but there are some gameplay elements that just make it annoying to play.

We need the Guitar Hero version of Golfing, Golf Hero, you heard it here first!

Andy is a golf enthusiast working for PureDrive Batteries, a leading retailer of 12v AGM Batteries, he is also particularly interest in video games and would like the industry to be a little more competitive with some more games.

Dorothy

Dorothy is a lonely farm girl from Kansas. A twister transports her to the magical Land of Oz. While in Oz, she sets out on a perilous journey to find the wizard who has the ability to send her home. During her trek, her feelings of alienation give way to a sense of belonging. She comes to the realization that the farm in Kansas is her home.

Scarecrow
Scarecrow is the first friend that Dorothy makes on her journey though Oz. He goes with her to meet the wizard because he wants a brain. Like Dorothy, he learns that he had what he wanted all along. He does not need a brain because he already has wisdom. His character helps Dorothy realize that her home is back in Kansas. He symbolizes the need to make personal choices.

Tin Man
Tin Man is the second friend that Dorothy makes in Oz. Like the other characters, he suffers from a lack of confidence. He joins Dorothy and the Scarecrow on their trip to find of the Wizard of Oz. He thinks he needs a heart because he is empty inside. In time, he realizes that he is already capable of having emotions.

His character is relevant to the story because it symbolizes love and intuition.

Cowardly Lion
Cowardly Lion is the third friend that Dorothy meets while on her search for the wizard. The Cowardly Lion feels inadequate because he has no courage. During the story, he is given the opportunity to prove himself. It’s not until this moment that he realizes that he already possesses courage. He symbolizes the

need to be fearless. He helps Dorothy realize that she needs to have faith in herself.

Glinda
Glinda is the Witch of the North. Throughout the story, she gives Dorothy key pieces of wisdom. She has knowledge about the ruby slippers. Not only that, but she also has knowledge about the Wizard of Oz. Her advice enables Dorothy to figure out that there is no place like home. Glinda’s role in the story is to serve as Dorothy’s mentor.

Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz serves as a trickster. His role is to test Dorothy. Like the other characters, the Wizard of Oz has his own insecurities. He projects this image of a powerful stature, yet he hides behind a curtain. His character forces Dorothy to act on her own. Since he is not a powerful wizard, she has to believe in herself.

If you’re interested in seeing the story come to life, consider picking up some Wizard of Oz tickets and heading to the West End for a night of musical entertainment!

As Seen on TV: Hair Gadgets

Kamisuki (Combing the hair), A colour woodbloc...

Image via Wikipedia

There used to be a time when the only infomercials you had a chance of seeing were played at 4am in the middle of the week. These days, turn on any channel Sunday morning and you’ll be inundated with shouts of, “but that’s not ALL!” Have you ever been so amazed by a product that you’ve found yourself with one hand on the phone? We implore you to wait! While some of these products work exactly as they claim to, some do not and your money would be best spent elsewhere. Here are beauty gadgets from our favorite infomercials. Do they work?

1. Bumpits

This amazing kit contains five separate plastic prickly moons that are guaranteed to give you sex-kitten hair with minimal teasing. In theory, the product works. And on television, the models have picture perfect hair. But does it work in real life? If you have the patience to practice, yes. If you are a bit lacking in the hair-styling department, skip Bumpits. If your hair isn’t done just-so, you’ll end up with brown, plastic nubs poking through the top of your style.

2. Instyler

The infomercial for the Instyler is known as ‘soft’, meaning that you won’t know the price until you call. We can tell you that the product costs just over $100 on its own and you’ll come away clean if you can avoid the upsells. Amazingly, the product works like it’s supposed to. The rotating barrel and brush combination leaves your hair silky smooth without making it limp. Money well spent for girls who want to eliminate bed head.

3. EZ Combs

These products got their start in infomercial land but can now be found all over the internet and in local drugstores. Brush one side of your hair back, insert one side of the comb and repeat on the other side of your head. Do they work? You bet. However, like with Bumpits, the EZ Comb takes practice. The EZ Comb is cheap enough to buy and, if you don’t like it, chances are someone else in your life will. Be aware, though, that it is awfully sparkly. Don’t plan on wearing it to work.

4. Remington Emi Airwave Anti-Static Style System

This product purports to give you a bed head look without the frizz factor. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. However, if you use a smoothing serum to your hair you may fair better. To use, insert a length of your hair into the sleeve and the tornado effect twists your hair into a rope. When all of your hair is dry, simply finger style for a sexy, surfer girl look. So does it work? Yes, it works. That said, unless you have $90 to blow and an hour to spend drying your long hair, we say skip it. You can get the same look with your fingers and a regular blow dryer.

5. CHI Ceramic Hairstyling Iron

As flat irons go, this is the best. Not only isn’t virtually mistake proof but it flattens every single strand of hair on your head to perfection. The hefty price tag of $145 may put off some but if you’ve got the money, spend it! This tool is guaranteed to last for years and works on any length of hair that you have. One word of warning: don’t run the tool over one section of hair more than once or you’ll end up with burnt ends.

3 Eco-Friendly Home Improvement Tips

January 11, 2012 No comments »

Many people are pushing homeowners for eco-friendly home improvements, and while these improvements can help the environment, they can also help your home and your wallet. That is because these improvements focus on lowering energy costs and make your house function much more efficiently. While there are many ways of fixing up your house, this is three of the best improvements you can make that will help out your bills and lower your strain on the environment.

Solar Panels

Solar-panels installed at rooftops of Poh Ern ...

Image via Wikipedia

It is said often and by many people, so it may seem a little tiring, but installing solar panels is perhaps one of the best things you can do for your house, and your wallet. Many homeowners are worried about installing solar panels, because they do cost a lot initially. However, don’t let this initial cost deter you, as you can make much more money back.

First of all, solar panels will definitely decrease your power costs because you are relying on the sun, not the power grid, to rely you with power. However, there is another hidden way of saving money that many people are unaware of.

You can sign a deal with power companies stating that, whenever you generate extra power, the power company will buy that energy at wholesale rates. This means they pay you for making energy. Many people make a full-time income just through this alone.

Outdoor Motion Detector
If you are like most people, you keep your porch lights on at night. This is a good way to deter criminals from going into your house, and if you or anyone else goes out at night, it will help you walk through the yard and into the house. However, leaving those lights on all night really drains power, and kills the light bulbs used.

Instead, try installing motion detectors. These will make the lights come on whenever motion is detected in the yard. Most detectors will only work on beings large enough to be human, so cats and squirrels shouldn’t trip the detector.

This not only decreases your costs and improves the light bulb’s life, but it is a better deterrent. Potential thieves will normally find it easier to go through a yard that has a constant stream of light, because they know that you are probably asleep. However, with motion detectors, they may run thinking that someone has spotted them.

Install Low Flow Showerheads
Do you know how much water you use during a shower? The average 15 minute shower uses up about 37.5 gallons of water, and that’s just one shower. By installing a low flow showerhead, you can easily halve or quarter that amount.

You might think that these low flow heads are inconvenient, and you will need to take longer showers to make up for the lack of water. However, that isn’t true. These showerheads are made in such a way that water is dispersed to mimic normal amounts. This means that you shouldn’t notice the lower amount of water, so you can save water while still taking good showers.

Johnny works for a leading construction company in his hometown of Sydney, Australia. Among the tips provided, he also recommends that you ensure your home’s exterior paint is eco-friendly, as this can be a terrible source of pollution as your paint flakes over time. Find a suitable eco-friendly paint for your home and be sure to recoat it if necessary.

5 Best Techie Alternatives to Cable Television

Cut the cable and save money with these entertainment solutions.

If you are a television junkie/ technophile, then you will undoubtedly agree that cable programming is rapidly becoming obsolete with each digital media innovation. Here are five of some of the most popular cable alternatives.

Netflix

Image representing Netflix as depicted in Crun...

Image via CrunchBase

Perhaps the most synonymous name to digital entertainment media, this movie rental titan has an enormous selection of titles for members to enjoy at a low subscription cost of $7.99 per month. Alongside the convenient, mail-order DVD feature, Netflix also offers Instant Watch, a multi-platform video-streaming feature that allows users to watch movies directly on their computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. Due to limited server capacity and bandwidth, however, not all movies are available for streaming.

Hulu

Image representing hulu as depicted in CrunchBase

Image via CrunchBase

A great way to catch up on television shows without using a DV-R or other recording device. It’s free and has other content, such as webisodes, movies and trailers, and behind the scenes clips from most of the major networks and studios. It is currently only available in Japan and the United States (due to licensing limitations) and broadcasts a range of video resolutions from 288p to 720p. Hulu plus, the ad-free premium version of Hulu, grants members access to all season episodes as opposed to five of the most recent ones. Additionally, it is multi platform and provides high definition content when available. It has a $7.99 subscription fee that rivals Netflix. But with that subscription also includes portability to devices beyond your computer like the XBox 360.

iTunes icon

Image via Wikipedia

iTunes

Apple’s iTunes is free to download and offers users movies from $9.99-$14.99 and television series at $2.99 per episode, with season passes going for discounted prices (HD quality movies and shows are priced slightly higher).

Android Market

Android Market

Image via Wikipedia

A runner-up to iTunes, Google’s Android Market gives users an alternative to movies if iTunes pricing is a bit steep. Rentals range from $1.99-$3.99 and since video content is still an infantile component to the Market, users are limited to 48-hour rentals only. The face of Google is ever evolving and with Google releasing their latest mobile operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, things are bound to change very soon. So it would be wise to keep an eye on it in the coming months.

Amazon Instant Video

Image representing Amazon Unbox as depicted in...

Image via CrunchBase

At first glance, the $79 annual subscription may seem debilitating but the value is worth the plunge. Break the subscription down into a 12-month period and it would only cost $6.50 per month, cheaper than Netflix or Hulu Plus, not to mention the service is complimentary to Prime members. Amazon first launched this feature September 2006 under the name “Amazon Unbox.” With more than 10,000 movies and shows to offer, users have the option to purchase content at reasonable prices in addition to streaming–a sort of amalgamation of iTunes and Netflix in a sense. Not as voluminous as Netflix is, but that is changing slowly but surely. There are some limitations, though, as some content may be unavailable for streaming at times due to licensing issues. Also, Mac users cannot download any content due to compatibility issues.
